Our Network Affiliation with Cigna

Cigna Dental Insurance

Starting September 1st, 2025 our office will no longer be an “in-network” provider for Cigna dental insurance.  We have made the difficult decision to opt out of Cigna’s network after careful consideration.  As I’m sure you are aware the cost of goods and services has increased significantly in recent years.  Your costs have gone up, our costs have gone up.  Sadly, Cigna’s fee schedule has not significantly increased in many, many years.  They are unwilling to compensate for inflation and we have had to make the difficult decision to leave Cigna’s network.

What Does This Mean For You?

If you have Cigna dental insurance we can still see you as a patient in this office.  Cigna does pay out of network benefits.  When you are here for an appointment we will need to collect our normal fee for service from you.  We will then file your claim with Cigna.  Cigna will reimburse you for at least a portion of this.  You will need to check with Cigna as to how much they reimburse for each procedure.

Our Normal Fees

Here are some typical procedures and our fees:

  • Adult Prophylaxis (dental cleaning) – $150
  • Periodic Exam (typically done every 6 months) – $92
  • Bitewing X-Rays (typically done once per year) – $99

So for your typical 6-month exam and cleaning you would pay $242 out of pocket.  Then Cigna would reimburse you for a portion of this.

We understand that your out of pocket expense may be a little higher than you’ve been used to paying.  And we understand that you may want to change dental offices.  We hope that you won’t.  But we understand that because of financial reasons you might not be able to stay.  If you have any questions about this please call our office at 303-220-1122.  For questions relating to your dental insurance reimbursement from Cigna you will need to contact Cigna at: 1-800-244-6224

    Alternative

We also offer an in-house savings plan we call the Highlands Dental Savings Plan.  It’s not insurance, but it is a discount plan.  You can find more information about that by clicking here.
